Openings at both ends allow direct access, while the robust steel structure helps protect pedestrians. Multiple units can be connected to create a temporary pedestrian walkway of the required length, keeping access open as site conditions change.
Temporary Infrastructure For Urban Construction
The IJburg project demonstrates another way in which shipping containers can become part of temporary construction site infrastructure rather than being used for storage.
Their modular design allows the passage to be configured around the requirements of a project.
Units can be connected to extend the route and, once the construction phase changes or the passage is no longer required, they can be removed and deployed elsewhere. For busy urban construction sites, that flexibility provides a practical way to combine ongoing construction work with protected pedestrian access.
