A training environment that can keep changing
Training for emergency situations requires an environment in which different scenarios can be recreated. For the fire and rescue service in West Flanders, Belgium, CBOX modified a shipping container specifically for this purpose.
The interior was designed to allow profiles and movable wall sections to be installed in different configurations. This means the layout can be changed between exercises, creating different spaces and situations within the same container.
No real fire is created inside the unit. Instead, artificial smoke can be used during exercises to simulate reduced visibility and create a more realistic training environment. Finished in the characteristic fire-service red, the exterior immediately makes clear what this container was built for.
Built to take the training to different locations
An important requirement for the project was mobility. The training facility needed to be used at different fire service locations and could also be transported to exhibitions and other events.
For this reason, the container was fitted with a special skid system, allowing the fire service to load and unload the unit using its own vehicle. Rather than creating a fixed training room at one location, the complete training environment can travel to where it is needed.
That combination of a configurable interior and mobile construction turns a standard steel container into something very different: a reusable mobile training facility for emergency services. The container was delivered from the CBOX Containers location in Antwerp.
