FROM INDIVIDUAL CABINS TO A COMPLETE CLUBHOUSE
CBOX created a two-storey modular clubhouse for an Amsterdam football club using ten 20ft cabin containers. By connecting the units and opening selected side walls, the containers were transformed into spacious areas for players, visitors and club activities. The project shows how modular container solutions can provide a flexible alternative to conventional construction.
The modular clubhouse was configured around the football club’s needs, combining connected cabins for larger communal spaces with separate functional areas. Sanitary facilities, external staircases, glass walls and doors were integrated into the design, creating a flexible modular building that the club could finish in its own style and colours.
Modular building with room to adapt
Cabin containers offer an interesting alternative when additional indoor space needs to be created efficiently. Individual units can be connected, stacked and internally adapted, making it possible to create anything from a single room to a much larger modular building.
The cabins themselves already provide a comfortable starting point. They are insulated and equipped with windows, heating and electrical connections, allowing the focus to shift towards configuring the units for their intended use. For this project, that flexibility resulted in a complete two-storey clubhouse built from just ten individual modules: a practical example of how container-based modular construction can create substantial usable space without relying on a traditional building structure.
